If you don't like blue or clouds make you nauseous, if sunlight + atmospheric dust + water vapor is in no way thrilling, if seeing miles above your head bothers you, if sometimes you prefer living in a dark cave to lying about in sunbeams, then click on whatever else you were going to do next. Right now it is all light and sky here.

Championship weekend

Image
Sadie's Sol Heat 6 team won a big tournament in Orange County over the Presidents Day weekend. They lost their first two games on Saturday, but came back impressively with scrappy defense and clutch shots to win 4 games in a row and take home the championship trophy (and sweatshirts). The girls worked hard and played hard.
Emma came along to support Sadie and enjoy the hotel and pool. "I love running barefoot in hotels!" She also had lots of hang-out time with another little sister and her pet bunny.

Organic gardening at its best! This is the second snail that has slunk out of this head since I brought it home this morning. (smiles)

Our lovely leader planned a gold mine tour. It was really great! The girls panned for actual gold which of course was meant to be left behind for the next paying "miners for the day". Emma found some flecks with a guessed value of $10.  After teasing with finding gold, we went on a walking tour of equipment used in the area of Julian in 1870's and we walked into the mountain through parts of the actual mine. It was dark and dirty. Our guide brought us deep into the mine, to the foreman's desk where he had lights equaling the light output of a candle. It was very dim. Then the lights went out and that dark was deep. The…

hand whipped soft peaks

Image
We needed egg whites whipped to the point of soft peaks. I left my electric mixer up at the Girl Scout camp. Oops. The pudding needed to cook for 15 minutes so we tried to whip them into shape in that amount of time. It worked! Sure I could have pulled out the stand mixer but every one should do it by hand at least once right. I channeled Daisy and got it done.
